Sub-Modalities

The intensity of the feeling affects our ability to change state consciously and also the usefulness.

The good news is that the intensity of a feeling is connected to size and shape of the images you make (as you imagine), the volume and tonality of the sounds you hear, direction and position of feelings in your body.

These non-content specific qualities of the images, sounds and feelings are called Sub Modalities.

Each Representational System (Modality) has specific distinctions within it that makes the difference between two states, beliefs etc.

When you change the Sub-modality in any one system, the sub modalities in other modalities also change. That is, if you can change the distance of an image you see, the intensity of the feeling can change.

You can change your feelings associated with  beliefs, decisions and timelines by just changing the sub modalities associated with it.

Sub modalities and Language

Just like changing sub modality in one representation system changes the sub modalities in the other representation systems, changes in sub modalities are also reflected in the language.

People are always giving away the sub modalities of the pictures, sounds and feelings they have in their language.

The converse is also true. You can gently use language to change the sub modalities of a belief or idea in the desired direction.

You can use just sub-modalities to influence a decision, make a sale etc.
