We become what we believe what we will become. I guess it’s not as easy as it has been portrayed to be.

We as human are evolving everyday. A story, someone’s kind words, someone’s smile, a word of advise or a statement printed at the back of a newspaper wrapper can change mood and therefore the point of view or someones life for good or sometimes for bad.

Some of us may be very intuitive about when a good change is happening in our life. But I can assure you that the most of us have been trained to measure the wrong thing.

Some of us may be very intuitive about when a good change is happening in our life. But I can assure you that the most of us have been trained to measure the wrong thing.

For example I have met people who go for a relaxation session- a massage, meditation, and they would come out of it and they would say, I feel so relaxed. Who the hell cares, if they are gonna go back home and feel miserable, again. Has that relaxation helped them?

So let’s say someone goes to a motivation seminar and the speaker is jumping on the stage and with this horse voice claims, “TODAY YOU ARE GONNA REALIZE HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR LIFE TO YOU AND YOU ARE HERE FOR A PURPOSE and YOU ARE GONNA ACHIEVE YOUR DESTINY”. and the you feel YES! and then you come and out and you say I feel motivated; who cares if you can’t go back to your work and feel the motivation by yourself, has the change happened? NO!

I think we have been conditioned to measure how we feel at the moment.

I think we have been conditioned to measure how we feel at the moment, we until now, not all of us had the knowledge that the change is measure very differently.

Co-Founder of EIT, Antano Solar John describes one of experiences when he realized this. It was a Bangaluru batch and there was this lady he called uP! on the stage and she sits down and he does a pattern called part integration and the demonstrations goes on for an hour and a half it was a dramatic one. Her hands come almost together and she starts crying out so loud that three people in the audience start crying looking at her cry and in the end she laughs so loud that people are wondering what’s going on and finally she opens her eyes with such beautiful expression, everything is sorted out and she is happy.

In my head he was going, “why am I taking so much effort couldn’t I have done it in more elegant way” and as he is having this question in his mind, audience stands up and they start clapping. That’s when he realized, “Oh My God, people are measuring drama, people are measuring how they feel at that moment”.

It is important to make them realize that the measurement has to be different, so what happened with the lady back then is not the measurement. the measurement is when she goes back to her environment again where she faced that limitation how she feels differently that is the measurement. Which mean none of us neither me nor the client nor the type audience could ever known if that change really happened or not. But given the fact that Antano has some experience about the procedure he would rather choose to rely on his intuition to believe if the change is complete or not.

It is critical to have the measurement in place. Measurement of particular sort that give almost accurate information.

In an analogy, I think there is a special category called half boiled egg but none called half baked cake.

There has been a great deal of time invested through generations to educate us about multiple things like don’t trust the strangers. I wonder what would education about effective measurement do while choosing which stranger to trust and which one not to trust. Our parents were strangers until they were not, right!
